The current Acura Integra is a genuinely fun car for the enthusiast on a slightly tighter budget, but not everyone was happy that the revived Integra assumed a five-door liftback body style—the best Integras (and later, the RSX) were lauded for their sporty two-door style.
Well, a new Integra with two doors has just surfaced at the 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show, but it’s nothing like America’s Acura Integra, and it’s nothing like the new Prelude either, which might be a good thing.
Badged as a Honda, this new Integra concept is essentially a Civic-based creation with a Targa roof. Its sporty styling immediately conjures up fond memories of the CR-X, but is there any hope of this reaching production?

This concept was developed by China’s GAC Honda, a joint venture between GAC Group and Honda. The team responsible for this Integra concept clearly had fun, as it looks like a true enthusiast product—like certain classic NSX-Rs, this Integra has white wheels. It wears the front fascia of GAC Honda’s Integra, but the influence of the Civic Hatchback we know well is obvious, especially from the back.

Red mirrors, a lowered suspension, and that distinctive profile add up to what looks for all the world like a CR-X successor. The Civic del Sol was a small targa sold in the 1990s (known as the CR-X in certain markets), but unlike this Integra concept, the del Sol had space for just two people.
There’s more good news inside this Integra, which clearly has a manual gearbox. It’s not known what powers this concept, but a turbo-four or hybrid are possibilities.

Is This The Enthusiasts’ Car The Prelude Should’ve Been?

The new Honda Prelude has been a subject of contention since it was revealed. Fans of the older Preludes lament the new model’s hybrid-only powertrain and lack of a stick-shift. It’s also not cheap, as a new Prelude will cost you $42,000, but Honda does say that’s for a fully loaded trim. Still, you can buy a rear-wheel-drive BMW 230i for less than the Prelude. The Bimmer is a luxury coupe that’s fun to drive and far quicker.
At first glance, this Integra concept looks more like the compact, sporty Honda models that garnered such a loyal following in the 1990s. We can’t see it reaching production, though, as a 2+2 targa is unlikely to be a high-volume product. This Integra’s origins in China mean it’s even less likely to make it to America.
We’ll just have to appreciate it from afar, while dreaming of a version with the Civic Type R’s engine.
